Navigation Bar: About us

The SRF aims to facilitate and support research on the effects of UV exposure on man. Facts based on new knowledge about the effects of UV exposure is of high importance for public health and wellbeing in Europe and elsewhere. New ideas will be presented in reports from experts in their field that will be made available to the public, health professionals and UV industry involved in the development and manufacture of UV products for cosmetic, health and medical purposes. The new information and ideas will also be promoted in the media as a whole. Letters commenting on reports will be published on the website. The SRF may also arrange conferences to explore new ideas in the research on the effects of UV exposure and provide advice and assistance to enable the implementation of these for improvement of public health.

SRF encourages the development of a sound and science-based health policy with respect to moderate UV exposure and lifestyles based on scientific evidence, and it intends to make this sound and beneficial policy as widely known as possible. SRF reports will question assumptions on which current health policy and UV product development is based and look for better or more efficient ways of promoting good health and UV product development preventing damage and optimising the benefits of UV exposure. The reports published by the SRF aim to be authoritative and fully referenced.

The SRF aims to bring together scientists and other people active in health policy making and in developing recommendations to the general public together and help to close the gap in the chain of transmission of knowledge and opinions mutually between scientists and between scientists and the public. We hope to shorten the time it takes for new ideas to become publicly known, tested, accepted and when appropriate, put into practice. We especially want to act as a facilitator for conferences and new research on the effects of moderate UV exposure on man.
We realise that a part of our work is to act as a funds raiser to make these activities possible.
